Ignatian Inspired Talk

Contemplatives IN Action: Love in a Time of Polarization

October 4 at 7 PM

Church of Saint Thomas More, St. Ignatius Hall
1079 Summit Ave, Saint Paul MN 55105

We are pleased to welcome as our inaugural speaker, Mary Novak, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice.  Recognizing that we discern against the backdrop of the world as it exists today, Mary will speak to us about what our relationship with God calls us to in light of today’s political, social and economic realities.  She invites us to reflect on some challenging questions:

  • In this time of polarization in our country, what does love require of us as people of faith?
  • What is the price of being Christian today and what does Ignatian spirituality have to offer to ground and animate our response?

Our evening will include Mary’s talk, time for small group table talk and dialogue with Mary.  And, of course, time at the end for some refreshments and informal mingling.

Mary J. Novak
In April 2021, Mary J. Novak became the sixth woman, and first lay leader, to guide NETWORK, which was founded by Catholic Sisters over 50 years ago.  She brings to us, not only her training as an educator and spiritual director in the Ignatian tradition, but her experience as an organizer, activist, trauma-informed lawyer, chaplain, and restorative justice practitioner.

There is no fee for this event, but please register so we can plan for hospitality.
