The Ignatian Spirituality Center was inspired by the the many years of successful retreats at Saint Thomas More, work inspired by the Holy Spirit. We hope to build on this energy and spread the life-changing power of Ignatian Spirituality more widely and more broadly to diverse communities of faith.
Saint Thomas More Catholic Community has been entrusted to the care of the Society of Jesus since 1994 when David Hashka, SJ served as pastor. With each subsequent pastor our Ignatian character has deepened and we truly became the “Jesuit Parish of the Twin Cities” when Warren Sazama, SJ, accepted his assignment in 2016.
The signature experiences offered are retreats in daily life hosted every Advent and Lenten season. Initially, these small group sessions met in person, and have expanded to virtual groups as well. Participants gather to pray with and discuss excerpts from the Spiritual Exercises which have been specifically curated for the liturgical season by Susan Stabile, a member of the parish and founding Board Member of the Ignatian Spirituality Center at Saint Thomas More. Since then, hundreds of people from multiple faith traditions and from across the globe, make these retreats each year.
The Spirituality Center also offers opportunities for seekers to make the complete Spiritual Exercises, either individually with a Spiritual Director or in a group setting with a trained facilitator. Programming designed to give people an introduction to St. Ignatius and Ignatian Spirituality is also offered.
